Graduating high school seniors can start their ROTC journey as cadets in the Southern Strike Battalion at FIU. Army ROTC expands on the skills and instructions taught at JROTC units nationwide.
Enrollment in Army ROTC is only open to FIU students. High school students interested in joining ROTC must apply to FIU. After applying and being admitted into FIU, students can register for the ROTC Basic Course.

Enrollment Requirements
Students interested in enrolling in Army ROTC must meet the following requirements:
- Be a U.S. citizen
- Be at least 17
- A high school diploma or equivalent
- High school GPA of at least 2.50
- Have taken the SAT or ACT
- Pass the Army Combat Fitness Test and DoDMERB Physical.
- Meet the physical height and weight requirements.
4-Year National Scholarship
High school students interested in contracting with the military can apply for an ROTC National Scholarship. This scholarship is designed for incoming freshmen. Students can apply for the scholarship after completing their junior year of high school.
ROTC National Scholarships are awarded to the most outstanding applicants. Candidates are selected for merit-based scholarships based on their scholastic achievement and extra-curricular accomplishments.
