Southern Strike Battalion

FIU’s Army ROTC is a member of the Southern Strike Battalion, one of the largest battalions in the country. It was founded in 1956 and relocated to FIU by order of the Department of Defense in January 1996. The Battalion was officially activated in the summer of 1996.

With more than 225 enrolled cadets, the Battalion is among the most diverse in the country and has been recognized by the Sixth ROTC Region as a top achiever in training excellence. Our cadets have become some of the nation’s leading officers and set the standard in selective officer occupations.

The Battalion has eight partnership schools: Florida Atlantic University, University of Miami, Nova Southeastern University, Barry University, Miami-Dade College, Broward College, Palm Beach Atlantic University and Florida Memorial University.
